IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR FUTABA 6EX & TM7 OWNER/OPERATORS
The Bury Model Flying Club Safety Committee have reviewed and modified the current ban on the use of affected Futaba 2.4GHz equipment and and have cleared the equipment for use subject to the following conditions:
If you are an owner/operator of a Futaba 6EX 2.4 radio or 7TM 2.4 module and it has recently been checked at an official test station e.g. Hobbystores/Inwood/Galaxy Models "etc” and it has passed and you have been given the relevant paperwork and certification sticker then we see no reason why this system cannot be used at our club fields as long as the following procedures are adhered to:-
The 6EX and 7TM should be treated as if they are on the same frequency at all times. Use the frequency pole peg system . The person wishing to fly should take the peg off of the frequency post and nobody operating a 6EX or 7TM should switch on without this peg. When the person has finished flying the peg can be returned and the next person operating the same system can then obtain the peg and switch on (easy really one off one on!) Never switch on until you have the frequency peg. It is your responsibility at arrival at the field to ask other 2.4 operators what system they are using and let it be known that you are either operating a 6EX or 7TM. Remember treat these systems as if they are on the same frequency.
This operating procedure is put into place until Futaba issues another Press Release or final hardware fix for the GUID problem known to us at the moment. Any questions please phone Ivan Goodchild or Mark Hinton (07976281655)”
Stop Press
Ripmax and Futaba have now resolved the problems which affected the 6EX and TM7 module equipment by replacing each of the affected systems on a one-for-one basis. The replacement items have been modified to correct the fault and are thus cleared for unrestricted use.
Any Futaba 6EX and TM7 units which have not been replaced with the newer "corrected" units are still subject to the previous restrictions imposed, since there is still the possibility of potential GUID faults. Owners of such equipments are urged to exchange their sets for the replacement items as soon as possible.
